What is acupuncture and what does it treat?

Traditional Chinese Medicine is made up of five branches (Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Tuina Massage, Nutrition, Qigong) and is an ancient healing modality dating back over 2500 years.

The art of acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles in specific points which disperses tension and restores the body’s natural flow within the inner channels (Meridians). The body is mostly made up of water and when the flow of water is impeded, the water may become turbid which can lead to stagnation.

Robust research has shown that acupuncture can be an effective form of treatment for many pain conditions, musculoskeletal conditions, digestive issues as well as stress and emotional health.

My approach

My acupuncture treatments are inspired by the five element theory and our inherent connection with nature. As the microcosm of the macrocosm, the world around us flows within us. We are all made up of these five elements and five seasons which represent our different parts. In my treatments, I offer a unique approach by blending traditional acupuncture with aromatherapy and therapeutic massage

I have a passion for supporting women to find harmony in their menstrual cycle as well as advocating acupuncture as a preventative approach to health and wellbeing.

Yang Sheng

Yang Sheng is a Daoist philosophy, meaning ‘nourishing life’. Rooted in self-cultivation, this is a reminder that balance is not something that we can attain or a fixed state of being, there is no end point. Balance is a process and can be cultivated through our capacity to flow with the ever-changing winds, it’s our ability to adapt and meet out body’s needs from moment to moment. This philosophy is a reminder that the body is not a broken machine that needs fixing but a beautiful garden that require nurturance and nourishment.
